XOOPS which stood for eXtensible Obkect Oriented Portal System, was a very flexible and customizable application for controlling the layout of content. However the application had limited extensions and less online support for non-English speaker.

6.  Plone

Plone was a platform independent application built on Zope application server and written in Python. It came with installers for the Windows, Mac and the Linux environments. Apart from being platform independent, Plone was highly regarded for its security features.
