Earlier this year, Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) conducted a survey among 489 business executives to better understand the trend of data management in the industry today, specifically in IT outsourcing and cloud computing.

The survey results showed that the emergence of cloud computing was creating a host of new business opportunities for cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) providers and that enterprises would need help in integrating private and public clouds with traditional infrastructure in the coming years.

The survey revealed that 32% of the companies’ executives were already developing their own cloud strategies; 45% were developing their cloud strategies with IT Outsourcing (ITO) consultants or other providers. "By 2014, the typical IT infrastructure for today's customers of outsourced IT services will rely on cloud computing for more than a third of their IT resource base," says the report.
